Biography
Mst. Rabiba Khatun is a Lecturer in Mathematics at World University of Bangladesh (WUB), in the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering. She received her B.Sc. in Mathematics and M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from Islamic University, Bangladesh, securing second and first positions in her respective programs. Her M.Sc. thesis was titled βA Study on Pressure Distortion and Super Gradient Wind Phenomena for Cyclone Dynamics and Disaster Resilience.β She previously served as a Research Assistant in the Department of Mathematics at Islamic University (2021β2023), where she worked on tropical cyclone modeling, MATLAB simulations, data calibration, and the analysis of cyclone dynamics. Before joining WUB, she served as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at Uttara University, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
She has authored and co-authored six journal articles, including research on higher-dimensional Laplace transforms for high-order partial differential equations, tropical cyclone data calibration and trackΒ analysis, tide prediction in the Bay of Bengal, cyclone-induced water-level elevation, and the effects of climate change on tropical storms. She also presented her research on tropical cyclone activity under present and future climate conditions at the 22nd International Mathematical Conference in 2021. Her academic achievements include first position in her M.Sc. program, second position in her B.Sc. program, and merit- based scholarships at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Her research interests include mathematical modeling, dynamical systems and their applications, fluid dynamics, computational modeling, numerical analysis, and the application of mathematical methods to climate-related phenomena and disaster resilience. She has experience using MATLAB, C++, FORTRAN 90/95, Mathematica, and Maple for mathematical computation, numerical simulation, and scientific research.
